Leashed Dog Training

Our highly effective program has been designed to teach your dog the art of walking calmly on a loose leash and putting a stop to their excessive pulling habits. And the best part? This can be achieved in just a single session! 

Our six-week program involves a one-hour session every week where you’ll be able to grasp the fundamentals of effective communication and control. Through our proven K9 handling techniques, we ensure to not only train your dog but also equip you with the skills to handle and communicate with them effortlessly. With our expertise and experience, we assure you that your dog will finish the course as a well-behaved, obedient and calm pet, ready to impress everyone with their new skills!

Off-Leash Dog Training

SHIELD K9 Ottawa’s Off-Leash Training takes things to new levels. Your dog will build upon the skills they learned in the last course and add new skills. We’ll also introduce a low-level remote collar for instant communication with your dog and better & faster results. 

Our Advanced Obedience Off-Leash Training will teach your dog to recall off the leash, respect distance commands, ignore distractions, and be obedient everywhere. We’ll also integrate structured play, bringing drive and power to your dog’s obedience. (Must have completed Level 1 Functional Obedience On-Leash Training)

Level 1

ON-LEASH OBEDIENCE

  • Stop pulling in one session. We teach your dog to walk calmly on a loose leash.

  • Crazy in the house? We show you the secret to a calm quiet dog in the house.

  • Heel / Sit / Down / Place / Stay on leash. We teach you the secret to teaching a guaranteed recall.

  • On-Leash Recall. we teach you the secret to teaching a guaranteed recall.

  • Formal / Informal Recalls.

  • Recall under Distraction. We teach your dog to come any time every time

  • Barking, Jumping, Lunging. We teach you how to resolve these and other common behaviour issues.

  • Structured Play. Build your relationship with your dog through fun interactive play.

ADVANCED OBEDIENCE

(E-Collar Off-Leash Training)

  • It’s time to take things to the next level. This class focuses on consolidating gains made in the last course, adding some new skills and making everything more reliable with the e-collar.

  • Get Rid of That Leash. Teach your dog to recall off-the-leash

  • Intermediate Structured Play. The key to bringing drive and power to your dogs obedience is play.

  • Distance Commands. Your dog will learn ‘sit’, ‘down’ and ‘stay’ at a distance completely off leash.

  • Distraction Proofing. Teach your dog to ignore distractions and be obedient everywhere.

Level 3

COMPLETE CONTROL

(E-Collar Off-Leash Training II)

  • Complete control OFF LEASH, no distractions. Dogs that complete this level of training are at the pinnacle of off–leash control and proficiency. This course takes everything learned in both earlier levels and takes it to the most advanced level possible.

  • Perfect distance control, no leash

  • When you graduate this level, your dog will be trained past the level of any dog you will meet working K9 or otherwise.

  • Real World Obedience: The final two classes at this level take place in public so that graduates can demonstrate their proficiency in the real world
